The Soul pictured is the Turbo model which sh ould be running the 1.6t engine and a 7-speed DCT. I think thi s model is FWD which would push the power to 201 hp. There is still an EV model as well as a lower petrol model coming . I dont believe the base model has divorced lighting so the fascia will be more traditional and may run the 2.0L engine with the IVT (chain-driven CVT).
The 3rd generation Soul will be unveiled next week so we will get real info then rather than my sketchy speculations.
The US is the only reason the Kia Soul made it to a 2nd generation, let alone this 3rd one. Everywhere else in the world, the petrol-powered Kia Soul was a complete travesty due to the fuel economy compared to...everything. It was essentially replaced by the Kia Stonic and Kia Niro. The US buys over 80% of the world’s Soul production. In Korea, the K900 outsells the Soul (if I remember correctly).
This is the Stonic, which is more like a Kia Rio than a Hyundai Kona:

The Kia Soul is a rare site in most of the U.K.
I think the last one I saw was driven by a 60+ year old guy about five or six months ago (I’bve yet to see a Stinger actually too).
Kia cars are predominantly small Picantos, Rios and Vengas and slightly larger Kia Cee’ds and larger again Kia Sportages.

2nd gen in Oz sells just 30 per month. Mainly because it is such poor value compared to the Picanto, Rio and Cerato. So the only 3rd gen version we'll see is the EV and only then to provide a budget option to the Niro EV.

I quite like the little Picanto, wish they were sold here in Canada! Then again, I like small cars, so...not surprising. :P

Looks funky but I read that the turbo DCT combo is good.
Wasn’t there rumors of a AWD version for 2020 to compete with the never-ending new C rossover competitors ?

The turbo is damn impressive and it's a great dual clutch auto. The value for your dollar is insane. Heated and cooled front seats. Pano roof. LEDs everywhere. Huge navigation. Heated steering wheel and back seats. All the safety and crash mitigation tech. Kia really has stepped their game up

I’m of the opinion that DCTs just don’t belong in mainstream cars.

I’m impressed, they managed to make it look even worse.
Also why
is the styling trend moving from “Angry Headlights” to “Squinting Headlights”

Faux floating C-pillar, yay, my most favoritest styling cliche.
I’ve always liked the Soul for its functional honesty and some measure of value - the styling is becoming a bit overdone now.

the Kia Picanto isn’t a bad looking car compared to some of it’s competitors.
But it is just a small high sided city car.
it’s got a bit more presence than the Vauxhall Viva/Opel Karl, Hyundai i10, e tc...

I know they are related, but I don’t mind the i10 either, we also don’t get that here in Canada, but I like the way they integrated the fog lamps into the front grill.
I’m weird, I know. :P

Why is it being tested in Mexico? (clearly has Mexico City dealer plates)

The Monterre y Plant is the most likely place to build the Soul since only the US buys the gas models. I can see the plant buil ding the Rio, Forte, and Soul (which would keep it at capacity).

W e’ll have to wait and see on the AWD. I’m feeling less confident since it seems like it shares with the Forte plus the X-Line and GT-Line are usually just appearance packages.

I didn’t even know they were related. I’ve spent no time what so ever looking into these cars other than having an awareness they exist. Lol.

They’re based on the same platform, so same engines and the like!
